Lonnie Lee Hood is a systems-building expert and writer from Lawrenceburg, TN. They earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Columbia College Chicago, where they served as chapter president for their chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. As a freelancer, they placed bylines in the New York Times, Washington Post, Smithsonian Magazine, Teen Vogue, Tennessee Lookout and more. Their New York Times essay resulted in a publishing deal with the West Virginia University Press. Their work has been featured on journalism podcasts, presented at The University of the South, and they served as panelist for the NLGJA. At the Farm School, they use their marketing and content background to create systems that support the overall health of the school, increasing revenue and process efficiency. As an ELA, Appalachian history and music instructor, they strive to create strong academic foundations for students while empowering their critical thinking and creativity. Lonnie lives with their partner, three dogs, a cat and a very large pet pig named Holliday.
